Many other books refer to the Time of Troubles in various ways (in fact the Drizzt novel Siege of Darkness mostly take place during this time). I think the Time of Troubles was the transition to 3rd edition, Spellplague to 4th and the Second Sundering to 5th if I remember correctly.

There are a good 30+ books in his series and this bundle only includes the first 13 (as well as War of the Spider Queen series and Lady Penitent series), but it's a great way to start reading about one of the bigger associated groups currently in Idle Champions
Also saying nobody reads Drizzt books if they aren't into DnD is erroneous. Drizzt appeals to a lot of people that like fantasy books, regardless of whether or not they are interested in DnD. This book contains a very nice collection of information on the characters, places, monsters, and more that are encountered in the novels. There are detailed maps of the cities and illustrations to accompany every creature and character mentioned.

Jun 17, 2009 路 This is the origin book of Drizzt Do'urden. Book 1 of 37 and the second novel I have read in the series, the first being Book 4, The Crystal Shard. My hope is to be able to read the entire series. I quite enjoyed the story line. Not knowing much about the Drow elves this was a great introduction to the Drow as well as Drizzt. .
